What makes the System 2000 so energy efficient?
The System 2000 is a fully integrated home heating appliance, utilizing multiple components to achieve maximum fuel savings without any decrease in your level of comfort. The System 2000 is an "on demand" system. What this means to you is that your boiler is not keeping the water inside itself at 180 degrees (or higher) 24/7. You wouldn't keep a kettle of boiling water on your stove 24/7 "just in case someone stopped by for a cup of tea", but this is exactly what happens in some heating systems. When the main control shuts the burner off in these type of systems, the water in your boiler will start to cool. Where do you think a large percentage of the heat goes? If you guessed "up my chimney", you are correct. This is referred to as "standby loss". So, money that you spent heating the water in your boiler is heating the great outdoors. In the System 2000, the control, called a "Digital Manager" will continue to operate the heating circulator to purge that heat from your boiler into your home or hot water storage tank.
The main component of the System 2000 is the Energy Converter. Holding as little as 2.5 gallons of water, (depending on the model ) the converter will, from a cold start, have heat circulating through your home in 90 seconds or less. The Energy Converter takes the heat produced by burning oil or propane (LP) and passes it into the water that will be heating your home.
Hot water for your sinks, tubs, showers and other domestic needs is produced by a component named the Heat Exchanger. The Heat Exchanger combined with a bronze circulator and a 40, 80, or 120 gallon storage tank, can produce virtually unlimited hot water. Because hot water is stored and not heated in a tank that is hooked up to a chimney, standby loss up your chimney is zero for hot water production.
